Monique LaTonia Wiggins, affectionately known as Nikki, was born on March 10, 1966, in Lenior County, North Carolina, to the late Arthur Donald and Mary Ann Moye Wiggins. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Nikki was a spirited individual with a vibrant personality and an infectious smile. A lover of hip-hop and raggae, she was known for her authenticity, expressing love openly and silence when necessary. After graduating from Norman Thomas High School for Business and Commercial Education in Manhattan in 1984, Nikki pursued higher education at Wilberforce University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1988. During her time at Wilberforce, she was initiated into the Zeta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on March 27, 1986, becoming a dedicated member. She also worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a co-op student and later built a distinguished career with the USACE, Nikki was awarded the Commanders Award, Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service, Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal while working with the USACE. She retired on September 17, 2024 after 37 years of loyal service. Nikki's compassionate nature and nonjudgemental attitude endeared her to many, as she devoted herself to her family, friends, sorority and community through charitable activities and volunteer work. A faithful member of Allen Temple AME Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, Nikki's life was a testament to love, kindness, and authenticity. On December 18, 2024, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories with her siblings, Tasha Newby and Bradford Wiggins (Kelly), nieces Jacquanda Farmer and Tamia Garcia, nephew Omari Giles, goddaughter Nicolette Sade "Nikki" Jones, sorority sisters and a host of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Clarence Newby, and grandmother Hazel Barnett.
